Impact Measurement

We measure not just to track progress, but to guide decisions, assess additionality, and ensure every investment generates outcomes that are as verifiable as our financial results.

Our IMM Approach

We integrate impact measurement and management (IMM) across the entire investment cycle, using a structured methodology that maximizes learning, accountability, and long-term value creation.

Our Goal

Our goal is to capture the transformation we aim to achieve, both for the businesses we invest in and for the people, communities, and environments they serve.

Our integrated system

Our integrated system combines risk analysis, ESG criteria, and impact objectives to assess the eligibility and alignment of each company.

This approach ensures that our impact management is integrated, rigorous, and responsive, and a core part of how we invest.

This approach ensures that our impact management is integrated, rigorous, and responsive, and a core part of how we invest.

We focus on 4 core elements:

Transformational Due Diligence

Before investing, we assess not just risk and return, but also the company’s capacity to generate meaningful, measurable outcomes.

Custom Theory of Change

Co-developed with each company to define expected outputs, outcomes, risks, and long-term links.

Custom Impact Key Performance Indicators

Aligned with each company’s Theory of Change, contractually included, monitored regularly.

Ongoing monitoring and dialogue for continuous improvement

Investment teams actively engaged with each company, reviewing results, spotting trends, and developing action plans that improve impact, mitigate risks, and scale what works.

A unified method
to evaluate impact

To ensure consistency and comparability, GSI has developed a proprietary impact scoring tool that combines the highest international standards with a framework designed to go beyond compliance and truly manage for impact.

This tool allows us to assess both the expected and actual impact of each investment using a defined set of weighted criteria.

Key dimensions assessed

Adapted to each fund’s context but unified in methodology, our tool informs decision-making, improvement strategies, and capital allocation, driving continuous learning and action across the portfolio.
